“It’s Only a Cold Sore”
Nothing brings out the lies like a presidential election. Here are some of many.
1. PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY IS NOT YOUR RESPONSIBILITY
All candidates, pundits, government official and media say this. Of course they speak in code---“It’s not your fault you don’t have the job you want, not your fault you bought a house you couldn’t afford, not your fault your stocks are going down. What ever happened to personal responsibility and accepting the consequences of bad decisions? Even large financial institutions and brokerage firms that made extremely irresponsible decisions are whining for governmental intervention that will allow them to become more irresponsible. Look to government to reward one’s bad behavior. Vote for me and I’ll give you something. This entitlement mentality has become a fast moving cancer spreading among society.
2. Obama is like JFKNot even close. I should note that Obama has not compared himself to Kennedy. This comparison comes from his adoring fans and pundits with no concept of history or the man born in 1917. JFK was a genuine war hero who not only understood evil existed but that it must be defeated. He had proven leadership skills and took risks. This is not to say Obama can’t achieve JFK like qualities, but right now the only accurate Kennedy comparison is Teddy.
3. I will create jobs
Mitt Romney actually went to Michigan and promised to revive the auto industry. What nonsense. He should have said the auto industry has for thirty years been plagued by incompetent management, bloated wages and inferior cars. Real job creation comes from people like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and thousands of creative small business men and women operating in a business friendly environment. The President is not responsible for you getting, keeping or losing your job. You are. This pandering by both political parties only encourages people to look at everyone to blame but themselves. As for the promises echoed by Obama, Clinton, and McCain; there isn’t enough room in cyberspace to discuss.
4. I WILL BRING US TOGETHERThis one is used by all candidates and assumes the following.
There exists a large serious divide in the population
What divides Americans is a bad thing
Someone should come and erase that division
Those within the two camps want to be reconciled
All are false. 85% of Americans believe in the Founding Fathers vision of self-reliance, personal responsibility and the God of the Bible. Those core American beliefs along with one man, one woman marriage and other time tested codes of behavior have made America great. We are united but frustrated because government at all levels led by both political parties has failed the 85% that believe in the above principles. In no way should we ever be brought together with the other 15%. Those that fit in the minority have a right to pursue happiness in the USA, not to change our foundations thru the courts and media.
5. Obama will eventually get tough questions from the main stream media.
Will never happen. The pundits analysis —he’s a likable guy, his staff is so friendly, what a great candidacy, yada, yada, yada. None of them will tell the truth. He’s not asked tough questions because of two reasons;
a. He’s black and the white liberal media never criticizes a liberal black person. Now that the SNL skit shamed them, you’ll see a few medium softballs lobed towards Obama but nothing aggressive or the attack style used on Clinton and McCain.
b. They want Obama to win. Cheerleaders disguised as reporters.
This is a huge disservice to Obama. He never asked for it and it makes him appear very weak. We’re electing the leader of the free world that must fight global terrorism. If he or any other candidate can’t handle severe criticism from fellow Americans that candidate is unqualified for Commander-In –Chief. Give this guy a chance to defend all his previous words and deeds. There may be a lot of substance to him. The man needs to get off Oprah’s couch.
6. The 90% Black vote Obama receives is not racist
This is an example of the truth being ignored by the main stream media and in effect lying after every primary contest by saying nothing. Of course, a portion of the 90% is racist, but you’ll never hear that. Instead, air time is allowed to political afficienados Charles Barkley and Magic Johnson pontificating their “substantive reasons” why they’re voting for Obama.
7. The white male vote that Obama is not receiving is racist
This hasn’t been uttered yet, but will in the general election because McCain will receive the majority of white male votes. It’s already being subtly forecast by the media gushing over white males voting for Obama in the Democratic primary. News Flash--- It’s the Democratic Primary against Hillary, not the November election for the Commander-In Chief. Content of character will decide the best candidate, not race.
8. I believe in upholding existing laws
This is “McCain Speak” on illegal immigration. Instead of doing everything he should to enforce existing laws and the will of the people, he rationalizes breaking the law by saying non-compliance is too America’s advantage. The United States is not a nation of immigrants. We are a nation of Laws that allows legal immigration. There is a big difference between the two concepts. One states a core value of our country, the other a trendy statement that comes from those trying to justify illegal activity.
9. A prolonged primary battle between Obama and Clinton will weaken the winner’s chances in the general election and hurt the Democratic Party.
This is a classic example of conventional wisdom being wrong. First of all, nothing could hurt the DNP. They’ve already been hijacked by their far left wing—it can’t get worse. Besides, the prize is the office of president, all else is mere conversation.
I believe the Obama/Clinton winner will be much sharper even if the races enters into the last night at the convention in Denver. It’s like an athletic team that that is consistently playing good competition. They only get better. No one will even know McCain is in the race until this overtime game is decided.
10. I WILL RESTORE OUR TARNISHED IMAGE WITH THE WORLD
This one is my favorite. It (our tarnished image) has been the drumbeat of the media since the initial assault in Afghanistan. There is nothing wrong with the United States. It is the U.S. that should be disgusted with the rest of the world. Other than Great Britain and a few others, most of the world has capitulated to Terrorism. Spain has formally surrended and France has done the same by doing nothing. Of course they all bash us. But Why? Even though the answer is obvious, you’ll never hear it from the media crowd that believes America is the problem. Those countries are afraid. Bashing us and doing nothing to fight Islamic fanatics keeps them safe from attack (for now). Perhaps going into Iraq was a huge mistake but who else is going to kill the bad guys? I would much rather live in the US under a president who trys to eliminate the threats to worldwide freedom than the countries that hide in the sand. . Those living in other countries should take the log out of their eye before pointing at the speck in ours. It’s so easy to sit on the sidelines and throw stones at the country that is actually doing something. If a country can’t defend themselves, they have no credibility saying what the United States should be doing. Entendu?
A simple question for all of you that feels our image is tarnished
- Have foreigners stopped coming to the US to visit?
- Have foreigns stopped trying to emigrate here
- Have any countries refused our financial aid
- How many minutes would go by before any of these countries asked for help if attacked?
