Lower Than a Carpetbagger
We’ve all seen this movie. You and your friends spend six hours helping someone move and some guy shows up the last 15 minutes to load one small box and then joins everyone for pizza and beer. Fill in your own personal story and you'll be in the correct mood for the following.
The famous Rick Santelli Tea Party rant took place in February of 2009. That spawned thousands of groups across the nation. Weekly meetings were everywhere along with huge rallies. Centennial Park in Fort Myers was attended by 5,000 which the local press ignored. The Naples Tea Party experienced rallies of over 7,000 on numerous occasions. This experience was duplicated across the nation in hundreds of cities including a massive rally in Washington DC. Twenty two months from the genesis in 2009, the Republicans took back the House in record numbers primarily due to the Tea Party.
Where was Mitt Romney during this first and only grassroots conservative movement in the United States since 1776? Nowhere, because he doesn’t have a constitutional conservative bone in his body. If you had a nickel for every Tea Party function or favorable comment he made in the last three years, you would still have to borrow ninety five cents for a candy bar. The millions of Tea Party members who were responsible for the November 2011 midterm election did not have in mind another George Bush or John McCain for President no matter how good one’s hair looks. To be upfront, I have no horse in the race. In my opinion the four remaining candidates are all lacking what is needed to lead our country and I believe that a “Churchill” will appear in the next few months. Stop swallowing the nonsense from the media and leaders of both parties that someone must be chosen now.
At least the other three can point to conservative actions in their political career including Tea Party support. Romney however is a true believer in top down government intervention highlighted by Romney Care which he still defends. The only person he is more conservative than is Ted Kennedy and that’s only because he’s dead. How does this guy even feel he should be running? He had nothing to do with the 2010 mid-term annihilation of the Democrats and now he wants to collect the spoils. He’s lower than a carpetbagger during Reconstruction.
I ask again. Where was Mitt Romney during the first and only conservative grassroots movement since 1776? For those of you supporting him—where were you?
