Genesis of Anger
The anger for most had been brewing since the first Bush presidency. It accelerated during the Clinton years and kept rising during George Bush’s two terms. It then hit a boiling point in October 08 with the passing of the first Bailout. That was the single event that pushed many hard working Americans over the edge and into political activism. At the first meeting I attended in March 09, the anger was almost exclusively against Bush and the Republicans for eight years of excessive government spending. Since then, the Obama administration has catapulted the insanity to something found only in Banana republics.
We believe that Government Intervention is destroying our Individual Freedom and Financial well being. Both political parties have been guilty of this for decades at the local, state and most grievously at the Federal Level. Most members of Congress are nothing but thieves. Our citizens were being robbed by Bush and the Republicans just as the Obama administration is now doing.
More and more Americans are realizing these elected representatives have been “breaking” into their homes every day stealing their money. The name Washington gives the latest piece of legislation is irrelevant. It always means more government control and less individual freedom. Why would any clear thinking American want that malfunctioning organization to have more responsibility until they prove they can run anything competently? Need I remind everyone about Amtrak, Fannie, Freddie, TSA, Post Office, Medicare, Social Security, etc? As Milton Friedman said “When a private enterprise fails, it is closed down; when a government enterprise fails, it is expanded.”
As 2009 progressed, the Obama Administration helped launch Tea Party anger into the stratosphere. These are my personal top five infractions.
1. Numerous forms of bailouts (who’s counting) and takeover of enterprises that should have been allowed to fail. The end result is larger government and smaller private enterprise. Part of letting capitalism work is letting the weak fail and the strong emerge. That basic principle cannot happen with government intervention. Government in charge of anything is always a disaster. How about the takeover of GM and theft of the GM Bondholders which resulted in a financial windfall to the UAW. In other words you’re money is helping pay their pensions and healthcare benefits. How’s that feel?
2. The Apology Tour. Apologizing for America to the very grandchildren of those we saved during WWII in Europe. His words desecrate the ground our soldiers are buried in. Bowing to the Saudi King is another disgraceful act. Obama should apologize for his ignorance; not for the United States of America
3. Blindness and unwillingness to recognize and confront evil and terrorism. It takes this President ten days to condemn Iran beating their citizens. He then tops that with clueless statements about the Fort Hood massacre and Christmas day bomber. And of course everyone’s favorite, bringing terrorists captured on the battlefield to New York to stand trial with the same rights as American Citizens.
4. Bribing of elected officials to ram legislation thru. Billboard whores for this are Ben Nelson of Nebraska and Mary Landrieu of Louisiana. Let’s not forget the most blatant example of theft-- the payoff to union leaders giving them a five-year exemption from a health insurance tax the rest of us are supposed to pay. Is the validity of the word thieves and theft starting to sink in? They are stealing from you to pay for these bribes.
5. In the words of Ben Shapiro—“ Obama's belief in America's unexceptionalism -- his view that America's government, not her people, is the formative force in her values; his view that the American people bear the stain of racial, sexual and military guilt; his view that America must abandon her scrupulous adherence to equality of opportunity in favor of equality of result, traditional morals in favor of alternative ethics, and liberty of enterprise in favor of redistributionism -- that set of beliefs is antithetical to what makes America great.”
Where does all the above come from? Its very core is Obama’s view of the Constitution. In his own words:
“But the Supreme Court never ventured into the
issues of redistribution of wealth and sort of basic issues of political and economic justice in this society and to that extent as radical as people try to characterize the Warren Court. It wasn’t that radical. It didn’t break free from the
essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers in the constitution. At least as it has been interpreted and the Warren Court interpreted it generally in the same way that
the constitution is a document of negative liberties Says what the states can’t do to you. Says what the federal gov’t can’t do to you, but it doesn’t say what the federal gov’t or state gov’t must do on your behalf."Obama actually believes in the “Central Planner” concept and that Americans have too much individual freedom. Do I need to mention what has happened to the people and economies of countries that adopted the central planner philosophy? All the above and much much more are why we are so angry.
Memo to Republicans:
When it comes to wasting your money, there is no basic difference between the current Republicans and Democrats in Congress. They’re all in the same ballpark. If third base represents a Socialist agenda, the Democrats are already at home plate and the Republicans are rounding second in a full gallop. I ask you. How many elected Republicans have called for cutting Government by reducing salaries and eliminating agencies? The answer is none. And please stop genuflecting at the latest celebrity politician because they have the Republican name on their forehead. Sarah Palin is the current example. She’s endorsing McCain for another term and he’s one of the “usual suspects” that needs removing.
Memo to Democrats:Your Democratic leadership is not the Party of JFK. He would be aghast at the likes of Obama, Pelosi, and Reid. They are a perfect fit in Venezuela, not the Unites States. Most of you are hardworking Americans with common sense and a belief in self reliance. The well being of your family is far more important than blindly following past voting patterns. There will be an emergence of good candidates from both parties that will actually do something to reduce the bloated beast. Please identify and vote for them in November.
Who’s welcome in the Tea Party Tent??? Anyone who believes in self reliance and shuns the entitlement mentality that has infected so many of our citizens. Years of voting Republican doesn’t get you in, any more than voting Democratic since Roosevelt keeps you out. Christian or atheist, black, white or Hispanic, gay or straight, rich or poor are all welcome. If you’ve come to the realization that excessive government is always the problem and never the solution, please join us.
The very words of our Founding Fathers cry out for all modern day patriots to come forward. This country is now in the “deep end of the pool” as it relates to our Republic’s survival. Citizens everywhere are waking up to the theft both parties have been inflicting for years. Every unnecessary government employee is just another person the rest of us support. Every unnecessary program and agency is another increase in the power of Government and a corresponding decrease in individual freedom. America’s strength is the private sector. Government is the drain. Let me be clear. Effective and necessary government is a good thing. Anything else is theft. It is imperative for Americans to ruthlessly implement procedures to elimiate the waste. It will never happen from within government. 30% would be a good start.
There is a definite division growing in this country. Those that want government to take care of them and those that find that thought repugnant. We may not be able to change the minds of the former but we can certainly reduce the machinery that caters to them.
Who am I? Someone who believes in the writings and intentions of the Founding Fathers. My political views have remained basically the same since 1972. I was then considered a moderate Democrat. Today the media would label me several miles to the right of John McCain. I try to look at each situation with a big picture perspective that would reflect the wisdom of our Founding Fathers.
In conclusion, those of us in the Tea Party movement want American to stick with the original Hope & Change.
