Lower Than a Carpetbagger

We’ve all seen this movie. You and your friends spend six hours helping someone move and some guy shows up the last 15 minutes to load one small box and then joins everyone for pizza and beer. Fill in your own personal story and you'll be in the correct mood for the following.

The famous Rick Santelli Tea Party rant took place in February of 2009. That spawned thousands of groups across the nation. Weekly meetings were everywhere along with huge rallies. Centennial Park in Fort Myers was attended by 5,000 which the local press ignored. The Naples Tea Party experienced rallies of over 7,000 on numerous occasions. This experience was duplicated across the nation in hundreds of cities including a massive rally in Washington DC. Twenty two months from the genesis in 2009, the Republicans took back the House in record numbers primarily due to the Tea Party.

Where was Mitt Romney during this first and only grassroots conservative movement in the United States since 1776? Nowhere, because he doesn’t have a constitutional conservative bone in his body. If you had a nickel for every Tea Party function or favorable comment he made in the last three years, you would still have to borrow ninety five cents for a candy bar. The millions of Tea Party members who were responsible for the November 2011 midterm election did not have in mind another George Bush or John McCain for President no matter how good one’s hair looks. To be upfront, I have no horse in the race. In my opinion the four remaining candidates are all lacking what is needed to lead our country and I believe that a “Churchill” will appear in the next few months. Stop swallowing the nonsense from the media and leaders of both parties that someone must be chosen now.

At least the other three can point to conservative actions in their political career including Tea Party support. Romney however is a true believer in top down government intervention highlighted by Romney Care which he still defends. The only person he is more conservative than is Ted Kennedy and that’s only because he’s dead. How does this guy even feel he should be running? He had nothing to do with the 2010 mid-term annihilation of the Democrats and now he wants to collect the spoils. He’s lower than a carpetbagger during Reconstruction.

I ask again. Where was Mitt Romney during the first and only conservative grassroots movement since 1776? For those of you supporting him—where were you?

Why Ron Paul is a Bad Choice

To be upfront, I have no horse in the race. In my opinion they are all lacking what is needed to lead our country and I actually believe that a “Churchill” will appear in the next several months. Stop swallowing the nonsense from the media and leaders of both parties that someone must be chosen now. I will let others articulate the concerns many voters have regarding his views on Foreign Policy. I believe Ron Paul’s major disqualification is alarming, obvious and has been consistent for several decades. Please let my comments soak in a few days before dismissing.

Ron Paul doesn’t want to be President; he wants to be a nuisance. He's like a ground hog that pops up occasionally for attention. His core desire is to prove that he's the most conservative member of Congress and point out the flaws of everyone else. The very DNA of this man is to ridicule and denigrate members of the Republican Party. This hatred goes back three decades and is driving another “attempt" at the White House instead of a desire to be the Commander in Chief of the United States. It's as if Ron Paul is the perennial curmudgeon at the toll bridge and woe to all who don't meet his standards. His vicious attacks on fellow candidates over the last several weeks have brought out his true personality.

What has the most Constitutional conservative member of Congress been doing the last three years to alert the country to the purposeful destruction of Capitalism, Individual Freedom and American Sovereignty (Insert Fundamental Transformation if still blind). Did he rise on the House floor week after week to specifically articulate what Obama did, the results of those actions and more importantly, the Marxist thinking behind it? Let’s take it up a notch. Has he called for Obama's impeachment? Did he not see enough significant red flags since January 08 to speak out like our Founding Fathers did against King George? The answer to all the above is no. The closet he came was stating that “assassinating" al Qaeda operative Anwar al-Awlaki in Yemen may be an impeachable offense. What a coincidence that all his Republican primary opponents felt exactly the opposite.

One more example of Ron Paul not wanting to be President. Remember the Trump “debate" that never took place. Ron Paul declined the invite, calling it “beneath the office of the presidency.” I'll tell you what's beneath the office--the current occupier of the Presidency. Ron Paul could have been in front of millions of voters unfamiliar with him and his views and he dismissed it. Ask yourself why.

Our goal is to nominate the person who will become the best President and we are starving for a true conservative with wisdom to lead us. Don’t let your hunger cloud your judgment. At least give it some more time and ask yourself why Ron Paul’s vicious attacks are always against Republicans and not Obama. Are you confusing someone who is a reliable consistent conservative vote in Congress with the person who has the right skill set for President of the United States? There is a huge difference between the shallow and deep ends of the pool.

What Door to Choose

What criteria should one use in evaluating the Republican candidates? Let's start by not repeating the mistake made in 1988, 2000 and 2008 which gave us the Bush family and John McCain. I’m not enthusiastic about any of the current crop and have performed surgery to arrive at the anatomically correct candidate.
-Newt's brain, quick wit and knowledge of History.
- Ron Paul's Plan to eliminate specific Government Agencies.
- Rick Santorum’s public statements on Family Values
- Parts of Rick Perry's Tax plan
- Michelle Bachman's Cojones.
- Herman Cain's Practical Business Experience
- Mitt's Hair

On a more serious note,

Visualize a football field with a large sign in each end zone. The far left one reads Obama the Central Planner and the opposite end zone reads Founding Fathers - Maximum Individual Liberty. Now imagine all the candidates on the field. Do not compare them to each other or to Obama. Compare each one to the Founding Fathers. Comparisons to the likes of Dukakis, Gore, Kerry, Clinton and Obama will always give one the false security that your choice will lead to Constitutional conservatism.

The reason the United States is in this current mess is not because of far left socialist democrats that have been breeding since Woodrow Wilson, but due to Republicans masquerading as conservatives in all three branches of government.

Before you pencil in Ron Paul, let’s visualize another Football field. Everything is the same except the far right end zone reads only this—“Winston Churchill”. Which candidate most resembles the man who clearly understood the foreign and domestic evil that was destroying his beloved island? Who has the persistence, endurance, confidence and courage to do what Reagan said in 1964—“preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness.” You may find that your choice from the first football field is different from the second.

Over the last several months, I’ve heard comments from fellow conservatives at Tea party functions regarding the Republican candidates like:

But he said this in 1998
She is a little weird for me
He supports legalization of drugs
He took a picture with so and so
He supported this policy six years ago.

If you are consumed with specific “sins” of the candidates, then please consider the big picture. The current president is purposely destroying Capitalism, Individual Freedom and American Sovereignty (please insert fundamental transformation if you’re still clueless). Wake up!!! This election is our Yorktown, Gettysburg and Normandy. Find the candidate who has the desire and talent to expose Obama and win the election.

PIMPLE ON THE ELEPHANT’S ASS

Well--I see another disaster has been averted. Let us count the ways: Tarp, More Fannie and Freddie Bailout, Health Care Bill, Stimulus, others I forgot, Debt Ceiling, The Renewal of Jersey Shore. All the above except one did the exact opposite of what a capitalistic society should be doing in a country that has our Constitution.

Let me focus on the schools of conservative thought that dominated the Debt Ceiling nonsense.
a. Get something passed and wait until you have control of the White House before making major changes- the prize is the White House.
b. Stand on pure Constitutional Principle. No way should we raise the limit. Do the right thing and make Obama prioritize our expenditures.

Both the above have some good logical points, but like most debates in Washington; it's the wrong argument to have. The debt ceiling is a pimple on the elephant's ass. It's another Washington Smoke Screen . And the elephant that's been in the room since 11/08 is Obama and the fact that he is:

Purposely destroying Capitalism, Individual Freedom and American Sovereignty. In other words, the fundamental destruction of the United States of America for those of you who are still blind. When will any conservative candidate lay out this obvious formula to awaken those Americans still in a coma?

1. This is Obama did.
2. These are the results
3. This is the thinking behind his actions.

Perfect example of nonsense is Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C. He said the president should “demand” that Geithner resign “and immediately replace him with someone who will help Washington focus on balancing our budget and allowing the private sector to create jobs.”
Hey Senator--- Grow a pair and state the obvious. Geithner is just another pimple on the elephant's ass; another symptom of the cause. Obama is the problem and if he was white, you and the rest of your fellow “conservatives would have called for his impeachment 18 months ago. Oh no!! Did I mention the other elephant in the room?

You overpaid bureaucratic bunglers want to argue about whom is the most conservative by comparing the Debt Ceiling Debate to “Drawing a Line in the Sand” You cowards don’t even know where the beach is. The Democrats are out calling the S&P down grade, the “Tea Party Down Grade”

How about the “Obama Downgrade” of America?

What is The Tea Party

I first wrote this in February of 2010 because of the misleading information from liberal and conservative media. Nothing has changed after 18 months. Here it is again with a few added statements. Please pass along to anyone still believing the media mantra.

THE TEA PARTY

One cannot understand the Tea Party until you realize what it is not. It is not a third political party or a wing of the Republican Party. There is no leader and the Tea Party is not tied to any specific candidate (ignore the media nonsense). It is not any specific organization. There are many different groups in the United States (Oath Keepers, Freedom Works, 912 Project, etc). The Tea Party is not a specific number of people that can be sent to hell. Please explain to Maxine Waters.

So what is it? The Tea Party is a way of thinking. It is the first nationwide conservative grassroots movement since the Founding Fathers. It believes the proper role of government in a free society consists of constitutional conservative principles and basic common sense. Those who believe in Tea Party Principles know it’s wrong to apologize for America, have legislation shoved down one’s throat, bail out failed companies and basically everything else the Obama administration has done since January of 2009.

Eighty per cent of Americas have some level of Tea Party Blood in them. The election of Scott Brown in January, 2010 proved that even entitlement loving Ted Kennedy Democrats will rise up and say no when they feel tyranny has replaced liberty. The November 2010 midterm election was a stunning victory for those who believe in Liberty over the Obama Socialist Agenda.

Tea Party anger had been brewing since the first Bush presidency. It accelerated with Clinton and George W, hitting a boiling point in October 08 with passing of the first Bailout. That was the single event that pushed many hard working Americans over the edge and into political activism. The Tea Party believes that excessive Government Intervention is destroying Individual Freedom and Capitalism. Both political parties have been guilty of this for decades at the local, state and most grievously at the Federal Level. Our citizens were being robbed by Bush just as the Obama administration is now doing. The name Congress gives the latest piece of legislation is irrelevant. It always means more government control and less individual freedom.

Why would any clear thinking American want the Federal Government to have more responsibility? Need I remind everyone about Amtrak, Fannie, Freddie, TSA, Post Office, etc? As Milton Friedman said “When a private enterprise fails, it is closed down; when a government enterprise fails, it is expanded.” Obama actually believes in the “Central Planner” concept and that Americans have too much individual freedom. Please consult your history books to see what happened to the people and economies of countries that adopted the central planner philosophy?

Memo to Republicans: There is no basic difference between many of the current Republicans and Democrats in Congress. If third base represents a Socialist agenda, the Democrats are already at home plate and the Republicans are rounding second in a full gallop.

Memo to Democrats: Your Democratic leadership is not the Party of JFK.  He would be aghast at the likes of Obama, Pelosi, and Reid. Most of you are hardworking Americans with common sense and a belief in self reliance. The well being of your family is far more important than blindly following past voting patterns. There will be an emergence of good candidates from both parties. Please identify and vote for them in 2012.

Who’s welcome in the Tea Party Tent? Anyone who believes in self reliance and shuns the entitlement mentality that has infected so many of our citizens. Years of voting Republican doesn’t get you in, any more than voting Democratic since Roosevelt keeps you out. If you’ve come to the realization that excessive government is always the problem and never the solution, please join us.

The very words of our Founding Fathers cry out for all modern day patriots to come forward. This country is now in the “deep end of the pool” as it relates to our Republic’s survival. Citizens everywhere are waking up to the theft both parties have been inflicting for years. Every unnecessary government employee and program is another increase in the power of Government and a corresponding decrease in individual freedom. America’s strength is the private sector. Government is the drain. Every unnecessary government employee is a person on welfare. Effective and necessary government is a good thing. Anything else is theft.

There is a definite division between people in the United States. Those that want government to take care of them and those that find that thought repugnant. We may not be able to change the minds of the former but we can certainly reduce the machinery that caters to them. In conclusion, those of us in the Tea Party movement want American to stick with the original Hope & Change.

SUPREME WHAT?

A question for you conservatives running for any office in November. What is your stand on the Elaine Kagan Supreme Court nomination? I ask this because a few Senate Republicans masquerading as conservatives are voting for her as some did for Sotamayer. I could get into the details of Kalgan’s views but would rather go straight to the larger and more clarifying reason for not confirming Kagan—Obama nominated her.

During the presidential campaign, Obama stated he would not have confirmed Scalia or Thomas, and voted against Roberts and Alito as a senator. If that isn’t enough, try the following comments from Obama regarding what qualities a Supreme Court Justice should possess.

"I will seek someone who understands that justice isn't about some abstract legal theory or footnote in a case book; it is also about how our laws affect the daily realities of people's lives -- whether they can make a living and care for their families; whether they feel safe in their homes and welcome in their own nation.
"I view that quality of empathy, of understanding and identifying with people's hopes and struggles, as an essential ingredient for arriving as just decisions and outcomes."
To decide the difficult cases a judge should resort to "one's deepest values, one's core concerns, one's broader perspectives on how the world works, and the depth and breadth of one's empathy."

The above quotes are typical Obamaism. They sound great in a college classroom and to others ignorant, but are woefully wrong. The legislative branch is responsible for deciding how laws affect people, not the judicial. Judges are responsible for applying the written law and nothing else. The renowned Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes often went against his feelings because he believed in applying the law that was in front of him; not ruling how he wanted things to be. “To see that the game is played according to the rules whether I like them or not."

Obama nominated Sotomayer because of her decision in the New Haven Ricci firefighter case which clearly demonstrated her desire to ignore the law and go with feelings. Kagan will be no different. During her hearings, she was asked if the federal government could dictate how many fruits and vegetables a citizen should eat. She couldn’t say no, but rambled on about how a dumb law may still be Constitutional. Her core beliefs are the same as the Obama “Trifecta”. There is a problem, thus, there is a victim, and therefore government intervention is needed. Some may think that one should only judge the candidate and not the one nominating her, but please tell me of anyone in the Obama administration that doesn’t share his view that the United States and its Constitution are deeply flawed.

In essence, a vote for Kagan is a vote against Scalia, Roberts, Alito, Thomas and the Constitution. I fully expect that from those who believe in the “fundamental transformation” of the United States, not from those running as conservatives. Every candidate campaigning for any type of office should be asked their opinion on Kagan. It’s either a vote for or against Obama’s view of America.

THOSE TEA PARTY PEOPLE

Who are those Party Protesters and why so angry? As someone who’s been to the events and several meetings since March 09, I will explain.

Characteristics

Age 35-85
Most are still working and in the private sector
Can articulate the Constitution and Intentions of the Founding Fathers
First timers regarding political involvement
Well informed on where our tax dollars are going
Several WWII Veterans (They are the angriest)
50-50 men women ratio
Disgusted with both Political Parties

Genesis of Anger

The anger for most had been brewing since the first Bush presidency. It accelerated during the Clinton years and kept rising during George Bush’s two terms. It then hit a boiling point in October 08 with the passing of the first Bailout. That was the single event that pushed many hard working Americans over the edge and into political activism. At the first meeting I attended in March 09, the anger was almost exclusively against Bush and the Republicans for eight years of excessive government spending. Since then, the Obama administration has catapulted the insanity to something found only in Banana republics.

We believe that Government Intervention is destroying our Individual Freedom and Financial well being. Both political parties have been guilty of this for decades at the local, state and most grievously at the Federal Level. Most members of Congress are nothing but thieves. Our citizens were being robbed by Bush and the Republicans just as the Obama administration is now doing.

More and more Americans are realizing these elected representatives have been “breaking” into their homes every day stealing their money. The name Washington gives the latest piece of legislation is irrelevant. It always means more government control and less individual freedom. Why would any clear thinking American want that malfunctioning organization to have more responsibility until they prove they can run anything competently? Need I remind everyone about Amtrak, Fannie, Freddie, TSA, Post Office, Medicare, Social Security, etc? As Milton Friedman said “When a private enterprise fails, it is closed down; when a government enterprise fails, it is expanded.”

As 2009 progressed, the Obama Administration helped launch Tea Party anger into the stratosphere. These are my personal top five infractions.

1. Numerous forms of bailouts (who’s counting) and takeover of enterprises that should have been allowed to fail. The end result is larger government and smaller private enterprise. Part of letting capitalism work is letting the weak fail and the strong emerge. That basic principle cannot happen with government intervention. Government in charge of anything is always a disaster. How about the takeover of GM and theft of the GM Bondholders which resulted in a financial windfall to the UAW. In other words you’re money is helping pay their pensions and healthcare benefits. How’s that feel?

2. The Apology Tour. Apologizing for America to the very grandchildren of those we saved during WWII in Europe. His words desecrate the ground our soldiers are buried in. Bowing to the Saudi King is another disgraceful act. Obama should apologize for his ignorance; not for the United States of America

3. Blindness and unwillingness to recognize and confront evil and terrorism. It takes this President ten days to condemn Iran beating their citizens. He then tops that with clueless statements about the Fort Hood massacre and Christmas day bomber. And of course everyone’s favorite, bringing terrorists captured on the battlefield to New York to stand trial with the same rights as American Citizens.

4. Bribing of elected officials to ram legislation thru. Billboard whores for this are Ben Nelson of Nebraska and Mary Landrieu of Louisiana. Let’s not forget the most blatant example of theft-- the payoff to union leaders giving them a five-year exemption from a health insurance tax the rest of us are supposed to pay. Is the validity of the word thieves and theft starting to sink in? They are stealing from you to pay for these bribes.

5. In the words of Ben Shapiro—“ Obama's belief in America's unexceptionalism -- his view that America's government, not her people, is the formative force in her values; his view that the American people bear the stain of racial, sexual and military guilt; his view that America must abandon her scrupulous adherence to equality of opportunity in favor of equality of result, traditional morals in favor of alternative ethics, and liberty of enterprise in favor of redistributionism -- that set of beliefs is antithetical to what makes America great.”

Where does all the above come from? Its very core is Obama’s view of the Constitution. In his own words:

“But the Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth and sort of basic issues of political and economic justice in this society and to that extent as radical as people try to characterize the Warren Court. It wasn’t that radical. It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers in the constitution. At least as it has been interpreted and the Warren Court interpreted it generally in the same way that the constitution is a document of negative liberties Says what the states can’t do to you. Says what the federal gov’t can’t do to you, but it doesn’t say what the federal gov’t or state gov’t must do on your behalf."

Obama actually believes in the “Central Planner” concept and that Americans have too much individual freedom. Do I need to mention what has happened to the people and economies of countries that adopted the central planner philosophy? All the above and much much more are why we are so angry.

Memo to Republicans:

When it comes to wasting your money, there is no basic difference between the current Republicans and Democrats in Congress. They’re all in the same ballpark. If third base represents a Socialist agenda, the Democrats are already at home plate and the Republicans are rounding second in a full gallop. I ask you. How many elected Republicans have called for cutting Government by reducing salaries and eliminating agencies? The answer is none. And please stop genuflecting at the latest celebrity politician because they have the Republican name on their forehead. Sarah Palin is the current example. She’s endorsing McCain for another term and he’s one of the “usual suspects” that needs removing.

Memo to Democrats:

Your Democratic leadership is not the Party of JFK. He would be aghast at the likes of Obama, Pelosi, and Reid. They are a perfect fit in Venezuela, not the Unites States. Most of you are hardworking Americans with common sense and a belief in self reliance. The well being of your family is far more important than blindly following past voting patterns. There will be an emergence of good candidates from both parties that will actually do something to reduce the bloated beast. Please identify and vote for them in November.

Who’s welcome in the Tea Party Tent??? Anyone who believes in self reliance and shuns the entitlement mentality that has infected so many of our citizens. Years of voting Republican doesn’t get you in, any more than voting Democratic since Roosevelt keeps you out. Christian or atheist, black, white or Hispanic, gay or straight, rich or poor are all welcome.

Every unnecessary government employee is just another person the rest of us support. Every unnecessary program and agency is another increase in the power of Government and a corresponding decrease in individual freedom. America’s strength is the private sector. Government is the drain. Let me be clear. Effective and necessary government is a good thing. Anything else is theft. It is imperative for Americans to ruthlessly implement procedures to elimiate the waste. It will never happen from within government. 30% would be a good start.

There is a definite division growing in this country. Those that want government to take care of them and those that find that thought repugnant. We may not be able to change the minds of the former but we can certainly reduce the machinery that caters to them.

Who am I? Someone who believes in the writings and intentions of the Founding Fathers. My political views have remained basically the same since 1972. I was then considered a moderate Democrat. Today the media would label me several miles to the right of John McCain. I try to look at each situation with a big picture perspective that would reflect the wisdom of our Founding Fathers.

In conclusion, those of us in the Tea Party movement want American to stick with the original Hope & Change.

JUDGEMENT IN OBAMALAND

The media has been nonstop about the specks in the eyes of John McCain and Sarah Palin. For some reason they have failed to point out the enormous log wedged in Obama. Please answer the following. How does someone with no resume, no accomplishments, and no experience running anything qualify for any job? He hasn’t run a local office, a State office, a Federal office. Hasn’t run a business or a small department in a business. Obama is the guy you meet at a cocktail party that has all the answers for the world’s problems but when questioned, you discover he’s the emptiest suit in the room. His solutions and experience come from the same place—political classes at an ultra liberal college. Obama is 47 and still hasn’t had a real job. Writing two books while on the government payroll does not qualify one for Commander in Chief.

Let’s look at documented examples of Obama’s judgment. Twenty years in a church listening to hatred of America and the white race. For those of us that attend church, two sermons would have been enough. Not Obama. He managed to stay twenty years, get married there, have the kids baptized and refer to the preacher as his spiritual adviser. Let’s move on to William Ayers, the unrepentant terrorist from the 70’s. I suppose any of us might meet a guy like that this once or twice (racquetball league, kid’s soccer). You shake his hand, say a few words and then never go near the guy again. Would any past presidential candidate or any clear thinking American ever associate with such scum. Only if you wanted to. Obama launched his political career from Ayers living room and continued a relationship for several years. Obama sought out Reverend Wright and William Ayers. These associations were no accident. Nor have Obama’s praise of Lewis Farrakhan and Rashid Khalidi been accidents.

For those who call themselves Christians, here’s a few more. Obama says he doesn’t know when life begins, yet has the most aggressive stance on abortion in Congress. Wouldn’t one error on the side of life if they didn’t know when life begins? Perhaps Obama voters need to see a video on partial birth abortion to straighten out their moral compass. One more item—six years of tax returns shows Obama giving less than two per cent. He must have missed all the sermons on tithing also.

Obama would be a qualified candidate in Cuba, Venezuela or several other Marxist countries but not in the USA. Try and imagine any other candidate in our country’s history going to a foreign country and bad mouthing the US like he did in Germany. Where does he get the arrogance to give such a speech?

And now some excerpts from Obama during a radio interview in 2001 that should send chills to anyone that has read the Constitution and has the vaguest idea of “limited government” as proposed by the Founding Fathers. The bolding is from me.

Says what the federal gov’t can’t do to you, but it doesn’t say what the federal gov’t or state gov’t must do on your behalf and that hasn’t shifted and I think one of the tragedies of the civil rights movement was that 41:01 the civil rights movement became so court focused. I think there was a tendency to lose track of the political and organizing activities on the ground that are able to bring about the coalitions of power through which you bring about redistributive change and in some ways we still suffer from that.”

Obama actually believes in the “Central Planner” concept. Do I need to mention what happened to the people and economies of countries that followed that philosophy? If Obama loses on November 4th the media will claim racism. I’m white and the above reasons are why I’m not voting for him. Those reasons should be enough for anyone. If he wins, we all lose.

THE SKY IS FALLING

The bigger the lie, the more likely people will believe it. This never ending bailout is the whooper of all time. Here are three of many lies.

There is a World Wide financial meltdown coming if the Federal Government isn’t given unprecedented power and money.
Some companies are too big to fail.
There isn’t enough regulation.

All are false. What makes any reasonable person think the Unites States Government can fix anything and that the word “fix” is even appropriate. As the free market economist Milton Friedman said 'When a private enterprise fails, it is closed down. When a government enterprise fails, it is expanded.” This nonstop frenzy of fear spread by the media and government officials has hidden the truth that our Federal Government has captured so much power that Moscow is jealous and wants a blueprint. Does anyone in Washington understand the words “limited government?” The same cartoon character Barney Frank that didn’t use his regulatory powers he had to investigate Fannie Mae now wants even more authority. We would be better off with Barney Ruble and the other Flintstones in charge.

A few facts regarding two assets that capture the daily headlines, stocks and houses. If you buy a stock that doesn't pay a cash dividend that equals at least 5%, you are speculating. And if you’re doing it with borrowed money you’re really speculating. Stop whining if it doesn’t work out. Do not listen to the cheerleaders on CNBC. They want a bull market for ratings and have the belief the world should revolve around overpriced stock prices. Where does this logic come from that stocks are supposed to be at a certain level and it’s a crisis if they’re not? Despite what realtors pontificate, the purchase of a home is also filled with speculation. In fact, the purchase of any asset with borrowed money is open to potential loss. Imagine what homes would be worth if one had to put down 50% or all cash. My point is that much of today’s home and stock values are artificially high due to the ability to borrow. It is ludicrous to let the Government intervene by trying to artificially prop up prices of either asset class. Let the free market system find the true value without Government intervention. It was government intervention that helped cause this mess. Democratic administrations pressured banks to make housing loans to unqualified buyers and the Bush administration allowed investment firms to leverage 30-1.

Too big to Fail?? That's the biggest lie of the 21st century. Name one example of a worldwide financial disaster since the 30’s that resulted from large firms going under. There aren’t any. This credit mess has been brewing for 30 years and will take at least five years to unwind. Paulson and Bernanke are selling the lie that increased government power can somehow make the inevitable pain of asset devaluation go away in months. This is worse than Socialism; it’s on a fast track to Communism. If Congress wants to do something useful, they should reduce corporate and personal income tax rates by 50% and cut Federal spending by 40%. Give the money directly to the taxpayer; not this end around nonsense that quadruples the government’s power.

IT’S ALL GOOD

On November 4, 2008 120 million plus voters will cast their ballot for President. What will influence that vote and how valid are the reasons? Some factors influencing a voter include a candidate’s age, intelligence, physical appearance, race, education, gender, religion, speaking ability, morals, ethics and work experience. Many of the above are also an integral part of the voter‘s personal makeup along with factors as peer pressure (unions, parents, spouse, friends), media propaganda, job security, emotion and knowledge of current issues. There is countless more and each one as diverse as the DNA of the voter.

How many of the above are really “valid” for picking a candidate? To properly judge we need to define the “perfect” voter. That individual would be well educated along with common sense and an excellent knowledge of our constitution and intent of the Founding Fathers. In addition, a thorough understanding of the major issues and the astuteness to compare the candidate’s promises with reality. That ideal voter would also have knowledge of a candidate’s major personal, business and political decisions for the last several years in order to ascertain the candidate’s judgment. That “ideal” voter will represent less than 5% of those showing up November 4. These standards would eliminate nearly everyone including most political pundits, TV analysts and definitely everyone at MSNBC. So how much validity does any election have? Before answering that question let’s take a closer look at three factors that the media can’t get right.

RACE--- During the Democratic primary one of those TV political “experts” actually said Hillary Clinton should make an announcement instructing white voters not to vote for her if their reason was racial. I kept waiting for him to prod Obama to do the same since black voters were going 90% for him. Never happened that night or since. Fortunately it was later explained by another “expert” that African Americans voting exclusively for Obama is not racist but a show of pride. H…….mmm. Racial overtones will be blamed if Obama loses in November. It will come from an agenda driven media that sees racism in every criticism of Obama. Look for more articles like “Has America matured enough to elect a black candidate President? In reality, American is more than ready to elect Colin Powell but maybe not a candidate with an extremely weak resume. Content of character and relevant experience will decide this election, not the candidate’s race. Obama, McCain and the American public know this. When will the media learn?

EDUCATION--- Considerable analysis was also made of the voter’s education during the Obama Clinton contest. Those “experts” couldn’t babel enough that the less educated white voter was going for Clinton. The inference was that the smart ones were voting Obama. (Media attempt at race and education) This type of analysis is very misleading because education is just one of so many factors. And what defines education? Is education a college classroom, the real world, or some combination? At no time in one’s life is the gap between what you know and what you think you know larger than the day of your college graduation. For those who stay in Academia there is never a chance of “real education”.

Are blue collar parents raising great children less educated than a Washington DC power couple because they didn’t attend college? Is the high school graduate who enters the military and makes life and death decisions on the battlefield less educated than those Donald Trump apprentice contestants who actually believe their under stress? Are the Journalism and Political Science graduates that roam the halls of Time, Newsweek and the NY Times any more educated than the rest of America that is actually living life instead of writing about it? Trying to define education in one specific way and then drawing conclusions about voting preferences is extremely arrogant and condescending.

GENDER--- Those pesky political analysts are out in force stating McCain’s VP choice of Sarah Palin is a cheap political trick to attract disgruntled Hillary voters. How can one group of people be so wrong so often? This choice has nothing to do with the Hillary crowd. They will either vote for Obama or stay home and read back issues of Cosmopolitan. Palin will attract the votes of hard working American families who struggle to raise good children. This will include Democrats and Republicans. If anything, she will have a bigger affect on the male voter. Sarah would have been a turn off 30 years ago, but not now. Most men today are wimps and a strong woman with “true grit” is very appealing to them. Many democratic husbands will vote McCain and not tell their wives. Gender is a huge issue in this election.

CONCLUSION--- So how valid is anyone’s vote? I’m voting for McCain because I believe Obama is a socialist windbag with no substantive work experience and numerous instances of terrible judgment. I am not a McCain fan and believe that the Republican Party will only have themselves to blame if they lose. They had eight years to show the country what good conservative leadership can do and didn’t come close. Are my voting reasons any more valid than a college student who thinks Obama is a combination of Moses and Martin Luther King? Absolutely not. My reasons are no more important to me than anyone else’s reasons are to them. I could be wrong and they could be right. Each and every reason is unique to the individual and is the correct decision for that person at that time and place in their life. By voting, we each take responsibility for our choice and that helps us become better educated for future elections. It’s all good. What a great country.

TWO FOR THE ROAD

Is this the best we can do? Door # 1 is an average Democrat masquerading as an 80’s Republican. Door #2 is a socialist who’s biggest accomplish is writing two books while on the government payroll. Is a do over possible? How did we drift so far from the likes of JFK and Ronald Reagan? Let’s look at three major issues.

National Security

The voters are electing the Commander in Chief, not the captain of the debate team. Is either qualified? McCain won’t even protect our borders from illegal aliens. Obama sees America as the problem instead of the 20th Century savior of the free world. His comments after 9/11 says it all “"We must also engage, however, in the more difficult task of understanding the sources of such madness. The essence of this tragedy, it seems to me, derives from a fundamental absence of empathy on the part of the attackers: an inability to imagine or connect with the humanity and suffering of others. Such a failure of empathy … most often … grows out of a climate of poverty and ignorance, helplessness and despair." Many have labeled these Obama comments as pre 9/11 thinking. Pre Pearl Harbor is more accurate.

The Commander in Chief needs an unwavering that America is the best country in the world. We are the good guys. Doesn’t mean we always do the right thing but we’re the only country that ever does anything. Our leader must also be of sound judgment, strong character and poses a solid core of beliefs. McCain developed some of that during his military career and imprisonment in Hanoi. However, that was 30 plus years ago and by itself does not qualify for our nation’s highest office. How many examples of sound judgment has McCain shown during his time in the Senate? His one shining moment was insisting on more troops and backing of the surge. Are there any others?

Obama doesn’t stick with anything. As soon as he feels pressure, he changes his position or tosses someone aside. (Public Financing, NAFTA, DC Gun ban, Iraq Time Tables, off shore drilling, Reverend Wright, his own Grandmother…) My favorite is the removal of his negative comments regarding the surge from the Obama web site. Obama thinks he’s still in some political class at Columbia where nonsense is rewarded. We need a President with some core values and a sense of what’s right for America, not someone who’s every utterance is derived from the latest polls.

Dependence on foreign oil? This has become a National Security Issue due to our government’s ineptness over the years. Who’s to blame for high prices and thus our deliberate funding of terrorism? It’s not OPEC, not speculators, not the oil companies and not those pesky Middle East tensions. The culprits go by the names of auto makers, drivers and the United States Congress. Depending on anyone other than ourselves for energy is insane at best and a negligent form of treason at worst. We put men on the moon in 1969, yet still lack energy independence 40 years later. The only thing missing is Nero playing his fiddle. Why would the USA deliberately strengthen Muslim countries that abuse women and use their oil wealth to help promote the destruction of Western Civilization? McCain is finally right on drilling but political expedicey is driving that instead of core conviction. Where was he the last 20 years? Obama and his fellow democrats are beyond clueless on this issue. Why can’t our politicians come to the same conclusion the overwhelming majority of sensible people have had for years…increase the Supply.

ECONOMY

Which of the candidates is going to say the following?

--The President and Congress are not responsible for you getting, keeping or losing your job. You’re not entitled to financial security.

-- Companies and individuals need to take responsibility for their bad decisions? The responsible taxpayer is tired of rewarding bad behavior with bailouts? That’s corporate and social welfare.

--Which candidate is going to name the CEO’s that plunder their companies with exsorbenet pay packages aided by biased compensation committees (fellow holdup accomplices)

--Which candidate is going to tell those who speculated on the housing market and lost—too bad? Accept your losses and stop whining. I make mistakes all the time; I don’t look past the mirror.

--The gambling dens (Bear Sterns, Lehman, Merrill, etc) do not deserve a “tag” day. Too big to fail? That’s the biggest lie of the 21st century. All these companies used irresponsible leverage to generate profits and lost big time. Their idea of taking responsibility? Go begging for more leverage. Paulson and Bernanke are just a couple of Government flunkies trying to bail out their buddies. This belief that certain pillars of Wall Street must be rescued in order to save Main Street is morally and factually incorrect. Where does this thinking come from that everything is supposed to work out and if it doesn’t, start blaming everyone but yourself? We are entitled to the “pursuit of happiness” not happiness and certainly not at the expense of those practicing responsibility. Which candidate is going to say the above?

Certainly not Obama. His whole philosophy is all problems have a victim and therefore government intervention is needed. McCain doesn’t even grasp the problem. How could either candidate say anything? They are both members of the most dysfunctional organization in the United States; the Congress. Obama has the edge here because he’s only been a member a few years. McCain has several years of doing the wrong thing as a member. The Founding Fathers would be aghast at the thievery of the American citizens by this never ending black hole that sucks the very life out of all responsible citizens.

JUDICIAL APPOINTMENTS

WE THE PEOPLE. Please read our Constitution. The preamble is one of those instances where size matters. Our framers put those three words first and made them larger. Let the wisdom of “We The People” soak into your soul. All voters need to understand the usurpation of our fundamental rights that is taking place thru the judicial branch. The wishes of the majority are being overruled by the minority with the assistance of certain judges that decided their job is too write laws and effect social change. The best gift from our framers was the three branches of government and their specific duties. The Judicial branch including the Supreme Court is to interpret existing laws and the constitution—NOT legislate law or social change. Our Constitution is not a living breathing document that shifts with perceived social whims.

We currently have two states with same sex marriage as law, yet in neither state have the majority of citizens voted for it. It became law though the judicial branch. It doesn’t matter which side of the issue you’re on, the important thing is that changes are made thru the Legislative branch. Our democracy is based on majority rule. Of course it’s not perfect but there is nothing better. Allowing minority views to become law is another departure from the Founding Father’s intention. If the majority in this country wants to adopt the views of the NY times and the Bravo network so be it. But it’s certainly not the role of the Judiciary. The above is one example of many. Which candidate is going to appoint judges that “stay in their lane”?

Not Obama. He actually thinks the role of the Judiciary is to implement “fairness’ in the country where our legislature has failed. He even voted against Chief Justice Roberts’s confirmation. Apparently Robert’s view of the Constitution wasn’t up to Obama standards. McCain says he’ll appoint Judges who interpret existing law but his habit of compromising on the wrong issues gives me no confidence. Besides he’s been trying to be his own Judge on immigration instead of following the existing laws.

I ask again. Is this the best we can do?

SMOKE SCREEN

Nice speech. Certainly one that played well in main stream media and academia. Unfortunately, it was a calculated diversion from the one core issue that defines Obama’s thinking. The real issue is not race, but the concept of taking personal responsibility for one’s situation and actions. The Obama mantra is the same as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, just disguised better.

1. There is a problem
2. Therefore, there must be a victim
3. Government Intervention is needed.

Obama does not want Americas to realize that he and his wife echo that philosophy. In addition, they both subscribe to the “America is the Problem” teachings of that Nazi beer hall disguised as a church. There’s a reason Obama has been a member for twenty years. He agrees with the pulpit. Blaming America for 9/11 and accusing the government of infecting the Black Community with AIDS can not be taken out of context. The first is normal rhetoric from Muslim Imam’s around the world. The second the utmost in deflecting responsibility for one’s actions. We all know how AIDS is acquired. No responsible person would ever stay at a church that preached the above.

The November contest is about electing the next Commander-In-Chief of America, not someone whose only strength is giving speeches applauded by Oprah. By focusing on race, Obama is also setting up an excuse for a loss in the general election. He along with others will blame it on race probably saying that many whites haven’t matured enough to vote for a black man.

I have two words for that nonsense—Colin Powell. Powell, if running for President would win in a landslide. But then, he has content of character, proven leadership skills and doesn’t subscribe to “America is the Problem”.

“It’s Only a Cold Sore”

Nothing brings out the lies like a presidential election. Here are some of many.

1. PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY IS NOT YOUR RESPONSIBILITY

All candidates, pundits, government official and media say this. Of course they speak in code---“It’s not your fault you don’t have the job you want, not your fault you bought a house you couldn’t afford, not your fault your stocks are going down. What ever happened to personal responsibility and accepting the consequences of bad decisions? Even large financial institutions and brokerage firms that made extremely irresponsible decisions are whining for governmental intervention that will allow them to become more irresponsible. Look to government to reward one’s bad behavior. Vote for me and I’ll give you something. This entitlement mentality has become a fast moving cancer spreading among society.

2. Obama is like JFK

Not even close. I should note that Obama has not compared himself to Kennedy. This comparison comes from his adoring fans and pundits with no concept of history or the man born in 1917. JFK was a genuine war hero who not only understood evil existed but that it must be defeated. He had proven leadership skills and took risks. This is not to say Obama can’t achieve JFK like qualities, but right now the only accurate Kennedy comparison is Teddy.

3. I will create jobs

Mitt Romney actually went to Michigan and promised to revive the auto industry. What nonsense. He should have said the auto industry has for thirty years been plagued by incompetent management, bloated wages and inferior cars. Real job creation comes from people like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and thousands of creative small business men and women operating in a business friendly environment. The President is not responsible for you getting, keeping or losing your job. You are. This pandering by both political parties only encourages people to look at everyone to blame but themselves. As for the promises echoed by Obama, Clinton, and McCain; there isn’t enough room in cyberspace to discuss.

4. I WILL BRING US TOGETHER

This one is used by all candidates and assumes the following.

There exists a large serious divide in the population
What divides Americans is a bad thing
Someone should come and erase that division
Those within the two camps want to be reconciled

All are false. 85% of Americans believe in the Founding Fathers vision of self-reliance, personal responsibility and the God of the Bible. Those core American beliefs along with one man, one woman marriage and other time tested codes of behavior have made America great. We are united but frustrated because government at all levels led by both political parties has failed the 85% that believe in the above principles. In no way should we ever be brought together with the other 15%. Those that fit in the minority have a right to pursue happiness in the USA, not to change our foundations thru the courts and media.

5. Obama will eventually get tough questions from the main stream media.

Will never happen. The pundits analysis —he’s a likable guy, his staff is so friendly, what a great candidacy, yada, yada, yada. None of them will tell the truth. He’s not asked tough questions because of two reasons;

a. He’s black and the white liberal media never criticizes a liberal black person. Now that the SNL skit shamed them, you’ll see a few medium softballs lobed towards Obama but nothing aggressive or the attack style used on Clinton and McCain.

b. They want Obama to win. Cheerleaders disguised as reporters.

This is a huge disservice to Obama. He never asked for it and it makes him appear very weak. We’re electing the leader of the free world that must fight global terrorism. If he or any other candidate can’t handle severe criticism from fellow Americans that candidate is unqualified for Commander-In –Chief. Give this guy a chance to defend all his previous words and deeds. There may be a lot of substance to him. The man needs to get off Oprah’s couch.

6. The 90% Black vote Obama receives is not racist

This is an example of the truth being ignored by the main stream media and in effect lying after every primary contest by saying nothing. Of course, a portion of the 90% is racist, but you’ll never hear that. Instead, air time is allowed to political afficienados Charles Barkley and Magic Johnson pontificating their “substantive reasons” why they’re voting for Obama.

7. The white male vote that Obama is not receiving is racist

This hasn’t been uttered yet, but will in the general election because McCain will receive the majority of white male votes. It’s already being subtly forecast by the media gushing over white males voting for Obama in the Democratic primary. News Flash--- It’s the Democratic Primary against Hillary, not the November election for the Commander-In Chief. Content of character will decide the best candidate, not race.

8. I believe in upholding existing laws

This is “McCain Speak” on illegal immigration. Instead of doing everything he should to enforce existing laws and the will of the people, he rationalizes breaking the law by saying non-compliance is too America’s advantage. The United States is not a nation of immigrants. We are a nation of Laws that allows legal immigration. There is a big difference between the two concepts. One states a core value of our country, the other a trendy statement that comes from those trying to justify illegal activity.

9. A prolonged primary battle between Obama and Clinton will weaken the winner’s chances in the general election and hurt the Democratic Party.

This is a classic example of conventional wisdom being wrong. First of all, nothing could hurt the DNP. They’ve already been hijacked by their far left wing—it can’t get worse. Besides, the prize is the office of president, all else is mere conversation.

I believe the Obama/Clinton winner will be much sharper even if the races enters into the last night at the convention in Denver. It’s like an athletic team that that is consistently playing good competition. They only get better. No one will even know McCain is in the race until this overtime game is decided.

10. I WILL RESTORE OUR TARNISHED IMAGE WITH THE WORLD

This one is my favorite. It (our tarnished image) has been the drumbeat of the media since the initial assault in Afghanistan. There is nothing wrong with the United States. It is the U.S. that should be disgusted with the rest of the world. Other than Great Britain and a few others, most of the world has capitulated to Terrorism. Spain has formally surrended and France has done the same by doing nothing. Of course they all bash us. But Why? Even though the answer is obvious, you’ll never hear it from the media crowd that believes America is the problem. Those countries are afraid. Bashing us and doing nothing to fight Islamic fanatics keeps them safe from attack (for now). Perhaps going into Iraq was a huge mistake but who else is going to kill the bad guys? I would much rather live in the US under a president who trys to eliminate the threats to worldwide freedom than the countries that hide in the sand. . Those living in other countries should take the log out of their eye before pointing at the speck in ours. It’s so easy to sit on the sidelines and throw stones at the country that is actually doing something. If a country can’t defend themselves, they have no credibility saying what the United States should be doing. Entendu?

A simple question for all of you that feels our image is tarnished
- Have foreigners stopped coming to the US to visit?
- Have foreigns stopped trying to emigrate here
- Have any countries refused our financial aid
- How many minutes would go by before any of these countries asked for help if attacked?

FOR WHOM AMESTY TOLLS

Fines, deportation, back taxes, etc. Absolutely! But let’s implement those punishments on the groups responsible for the chaotic immigration mess of the last twenty years. Corrupt companies, incompetent governmental agencies and gutless politicians are the real culprits. There must be a “Botany Bay” where these characters can be exiled.

A few statements before pontificating.

1. The United States is not a nation of immigrants. We are a nation of Laws that allows legal immigration. There is a big difference between the two concepts. One states a core value of our country, the other a trendy statement that comes from those trying to justify illegal activity.

2. Nothing is as ineffective and counterproductive as the federal government when intervening in the free market system.

3. No debate has birthed more blatant lies than immigration.

“The jobs that Americans won’t do” Not only is that statement completely false, it is an insult to legal Americans and our economic foundation. The U.S. is a capitalistic society where supply and demand of the legal labor pool dictates what workers get paid. The villains in this case are not the illegal aliens but the companies that have hired them along with ineffective federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. Are we to condone this “welfare subsidy” to these companies and reward incompetent government officials by granting them more responsibility? It’s as if there is a giant help wanted billboard on our southern border inviting foreigners to work here illegally. Our current approach makes it easy for people with no skills to come here and difficult for those with highly needed skills (math, science, etc) because they follow the law. Only in Washington could upside down logic like this exist.

Bluntly put, corrupt companies and incompetent government officials along with politicians have hoisted the largest outsourcing of American jobs over the last two decades. Millions of jobs going to illegal aliens that would have gone to American citizens at higher wages. Please don’t counter with the second biggest lie (The economy will collapse) Those companies that can’t compete by following the law can go out of business or find a different scam to pull on the American public. In essence, those companies that employ illegal aliens are nothing more than modern day plantations ( Can anyone say” Tara”) Only Scarlett is missing. Let this sink in before dismissing as hyperbole.

One of the worst consequences about the immigration bill is the thousands of mindless Government jobs that would be added to “enforce” all the proposed rules. As Milton Friedman so eloquently observed when describing Government projects “when a private enterprise fails, it is closed down; when a government enterprise fails, it is expanded”

So what’s the solution?

Build the fence. We can’t regulate immigration if we can’t control it.

Enforce the existing law and severely punish those executives that run the companies hiring illegals. Very stiff fines and jail time should do it. Also highlight their pictures in the paper and Internet. Eliminate the source of illegal activity and the problem will be solved.

Fire all top government officials in the “sanctuary” cities.

Do not expand the Government’s role in fixing immigration.

Immediately deport all illegal aliens with a criminal record.

My anger is not with the Mexican people crossing the border escaping a corrupt and impoverished country. I would be doing the same, especially if encouraged by hiring companies and government officials in the United States. Therefore, I would give a 60 day grace period to “come clean” before implementing steps 2 and 3. The focus should be on the source of the problem (the company), not the result. (Illegal alien).

Those that identify themselves and don’t have a criminal record can stay. Stop the nonsense about back taxes, etc. Let the companies that hired them pay it. A fine of 10% of their sales for the last five years should do the trick.

In summary, this whole issue is not about immigration---it is about following the laws of our land. Unethical people will always for reasons of power and money break the law. Honest Americans don’t have to reward their bad behavior.

REPUGNANT

Occasionally an incident occurs that crystallizes the difference in ethics/ morality between the elite media and the majority of Americans. A few weeks ago there was not only a classic but also an additional example of what constitutes morality for those that roam the halls of Congress.

Let’s start with the more infamous situation, the Mark Foley scandal.

While those affected politically point fingers about who knew what and when, this much is clear. A lot of people knew that Foley was to some degree a sexual predator. And they knew it for a long time. This included members of both political parties, other pages, the parents of some pages and a whole host of those who spend their time digging up dirt.

Here’s a simple question for all of you. Where is your moral compass? Why didn’t you contact any of the many law enforcement agencies that deal with the predators that stalk our children? For the Republicans that did nothing to “protect their party” and the Democrats that did nothing so as to exploit the situation at a better time there is only one thing you’ve earned. Your picture should be in every newspaper below the caption” This person aids sexual predators”.

Why would any decent American not take the next step? That step is not just whispering to your boss or associate, it’s contacting the authorities. Or did all of Congress learn their response from the Catholic Church’s playbook. Of course, that means they’ll have to promote Dennis Hassert since the church hierarchy promoted Cardinal Law to the Vatican from his throne of sexual perversion in Boston. Your duty is to contact the authorities that are trying to protect our children, not aide the predator in abusing more children.

The next incident was under the radar but much more significant because it clearly demonstrates the difference between how the elite media thinks versus the majority of this country. CBS evening news hosted by Katie Couric has a” free speech” segment where ordinary Americans state their beliefs A few weeks ago this is what guest Brian Rohrbough said.

“I’m saddened and shaken by the shooting at an Amish school today, and last week’s school murders. When my son Dan was murdered on the sidewalk at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999, I hoped that would be the last school shooting. Since that day, I’ve tried to answer the question, "Why did this happen?" This country is in a moral free-fall. For over two generations, the public school system has taught in a moral vacuum, expelling God from the school and from the government, replacing him with evolution, where the strong kill the weak, without moral consequences and life has no inherent value. We teach there are no absolutes, no right or wrong. And I assure you the murder of innocent children is always wrong, including by abortion. Abortion has diminished the value of children. Suicide has become an acceptable action and has further emboldened these criminals. And we are seeing an epidemic increase in murder-suicide attacks on our children. Sadly, our schools are not safe. In fact, we now witness that within our schools. Our children have become a target of terrorists from within the United States.”

For some strange reason Couric decided to make the following statement on her blog.

“We knew when we decided to put on this segment that a lot of people would disagree with it. We also knew some might even find it repugnant”

Who is some Katie? The majority of Americans, the minority, just a few, or could it be you and those in the media that think like you. Let’s take a look at Rohrbough’s free speech segment and analyze it point by point.

1.” When my son Dan was murdered on the sidewalk at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999, I hoped that would be the last school shooting. Since that day, I’ve tried to answer the question, "Why did this happen?" -------Nothing repugnant here, only the emotions of a grieving father that very few could relate to.

2.” This country is in a moral free-fall”------Only those without morals or no knowledge of the past fifty years could disagree with this statement and it certainly doesn’t resemble repugnancy.

3. “ For over two generations, the public school system has taught in a moral vacuum”------ Room for disagreement, I don’t believe they’ve taught in a moral vacuum but absolute values of right and wrong are definitely absent. Truth has become relative. At any rate nothing repugnant here.

4. “Expelling God from the school and from the government”------Statement of fact and the first elephant enters the room.

5. “replacing him with evolution”------I don’t know if evolution has been a replacement but God has been removed along with the words of the Founding Fathers that continually referenced God in forming the foundation of this country. Even the basics of our declaration are ignored which states that are rights come from our Creator.

6. “where the strong kill the weak, without moral consequences and life has no inherent value”------ An emotional statement referring to the animal kingdom. Very true, but not comparable to our society yet.

7. “We teach there are no absolutes, no right or wrong”-------Open for debate but not repugnant

8.” And I assure you the murder of innocent children is always wrong”------ No one should disagree here.

9. “including by abortion”-------Ah! The second repugnant elephant enters the room. Without these three words Couric’s Blog is never written. Rohrbough believes abortion is the killing of innocent children. Certainly the position of the pro life crowd and the opposite of the pro choice. But where is the repugnancy in his statement? For those in the abortion camp only disagreement is an option. Because abortion rights is the card carrying belief of the elite media, Couric felt it her duty to say something.

10. “ Abortion has diminished the value of children”------- How could even the pro choice crowd disagree with this statement? A simple yet powerful statement of fact. Should I bring up China?

11.”Suicide has become an acceptable action and has further emboldened these criminals. And we are seeing an epidemic increase in murder-suicide attacks on our children”.-------I disagree with this statement but find nothing repugnant.

12.”Sadly, our schools are not safe. In fact, we now witness that within our schools. Our children have become a target of terrorists from within the United States”------ Certainly the school attacks have been sensational and students were not packing guns in the 50’s. The terrorist reference is misplaced but far from being repugnant.

In summary, most of what Rohrbough said was true; some statements open to disagreement and some the emotions of a grieving father. But what was repugnant? (Arousing disgust or aversion; offensive or repulsive). Couric didn’t want her elite media cohorts to think she agreed with him. After all, he mentioned God and abortion and we all know what they think about those two.

SUBSTITUTION

In war there is no substitute for Victory (MacArthur- 4/19/51)
In Post 9/11 there is no substitute for Stupidity (Numerous)

Of the following, name the two that are myths and the one which exists but shouldn’t.

The Arab Street
The International Community
Pundits extolling the first two

Not a day passes in which several of the creatures belonging to category three pontificates about the importance of the first two. What nonsense. Both are myths created by a worldwide media that films anything jumping and/or denouncing the United States. And nothing jumps and denounces like unemployed Muslim men living in a seventh century tribal country repressed by their own government.

There actions are no more significant than Tom Cruise jumping on Oprah’s couch. Comments like “How will this play on the Arab Street” are spoken daily as if the United States should consider how these wannabe Osama’s are going to react. These are the same hypocrites that couldn’t protest enough about the “innocent” civilians killed during the Israeli- Hezbollah conflict but said nothing regarding the 3,000 killed in the WTC. Oh, wait a minute; they were jumping up and down on 9/11.

Last week the Pope uttered the first sensible comment regarding world politics to come from that office in modern history. What happens next? Jumping and denouncing. Actually, the pope didn’t say anything substantial; he just referred to a 14th century emperor who said”--- “Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.” All three major religions have had their turn at spreading faith by the sword, only the Muslims are still doing it.

The Vatican then retorted with the worst possible response, a string of apologies starting with a cardinal and ending with the pope. This was then followed by various Muslim leaders visiting the Pope to help him with sensitivity issues. The Arab Street is upset. (Lions and Tigers and Bears, oh my)

WOULD JESUS CHRIST APOLOGIZE?

Instead of graveling to these supporters of Osama’s jihad, the pope should have the said the following:

Those who do the following are not going to heaven:

Strap bombs to themselves and blow up innocent bystanders
Fly hijacked planes into buildings filled with civilians
Provide the financing for the above
Preach the daily hate of America and Israel that fuels these actions

There will be no virgins or eternal life in heaven for your version of martyrdom. These actions are reprehensible to the one true God and eternal damnation is where the perpetrators of this action are going. The pope should then contrast the lifestyle of Jesus and Mohamaned. That should give any clear thinking person reason to reflect. It is shameful that the Pope would back down. It is the Muslim visitors you should have been apologizing. Enough of this weakness.

Why won’t any world leaders say the above? More to the point, why hasn’t the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia and the leaders of all other Arab countries stated it? The answer is simple. They agree with the actions of their fellow Muslims and they’re afraid.

To make the above even clearer, imagine the reverse. Extremist Christians (something more radical than those condemning Rosie O’Donnell perverted life style) from the United States hijacking Arab passenger planes and slamming into buildings in Dubai, the beheading of a Muslim journalist, and the standard suicide bombing at outdoor restaurants in Saudi Arabia. What would happen next? The war on Christian Extremists would be over in thirty days. (as it should be) Every country (led by the U.S.) would use their military, political and intelligence resources to track down those committing and financing the acts and kill them. (As they should) There would be full cooperation throughout the world from all countries (as there should be) The villains would be unable to hide anywhere. The NY Times would have a plethora of articles condemning these murderous misguided fanatics along with daily cartoons. (As they should) Contrast that scenario with the present day situation

As for the other myth; the “International Community”. It usually goes something like “The United States finds itself isolated from the IC because of this or that. Like one should worry that the good child doesn’t want to do play with the bad ones. There is no IC. How can a country be part of this community unless you’re willing to fight these homicidal Muslims with boldness? They are not part of the team; they are part of the problem.

France is afraid
Spain is afraid and has capitulated
Russia is afraid and is cheering for the other side
Ditto for the UN
The NY Times is afraid
Time Magazine is afraid
Exactly which country (bad child) do these appeasers from the NY times want our country to listen to? Even Thomas Friedman (their lone brilliant columnist) is so busy trying to make friends with every Arab he can’t see the enemy)

The simple truth is that every country except the US and Great Britain is afraid. When will one of these myopic nightly talking heads state that simple truth?

The WWII generation identified and destroyed the enemy. They were called Germans and Japanese. This generation is afraid to even name the enemy (how many times did you hear the word Muslim on the ABC 9/11 movie. We would rather have ridiculous memorials every 9/11 and talk about our feelings. What is so confusing about Macarthur’s statement that our political leaders don’t get? When will the diplomats, attorneys and paper shuffling bureaucrats be removed from real decision making and replaced with street smart war time consiglieres? This is not the time for a petite women with book brains to try to “chat” with these Arab killers. This war will continue until our leaders have the political will to force Saudi Arabia and Iran to say and do the right thing.

Churchill once said about the German aggressors of WWII

“What kind of people do they think we are? Is it possible they do not realize that we shall never cease to preserve against them until they have been taught a lesson which they and the world will never forget?”

Apparently, the free world has forgotten. I am convinced that only the deaths of several hundred thousand civilians located in different parts of the world will make clear the gravity of the enemy. Remember, these are not warriors who fight in the open with a noble cause. Their leaders hide in caves convincing their repressed youth to disenegrate themselves and others. “Innocent women and children—no problem, I’m going to heaven.”

PUSH ONE FOR ENGLISH

The United States is not a nation of Immigrants. We are first and foremost a nation of laws that allows and encourages legal immigration. There is a big difference between the two concepts. One states the core value of our country, the other a trendy statement that comes from those selling illegal activity.

What is confusing about the term “illegal alien”? What is confusing about the insanity of rewarding bad behavior and the breaking of our laws? Apparently there is a lot of confusion in Washington as politicians from both parties keep pandering for votes and trying to sound sanctimonious. Someone needs to inform these bravados of babel that the majority of Americans, including the legal Hispanic population do not want illegal immigration. Please Washington—just follow the Constitution (secure the border) and enforce the law. Our current approach makes it easy for dishonest people with no skills to come here and difficult for those with highly needed skills (math, science, etc) because they follow the law. Only in Washington could upside down logic like this exist.

To put this in perspective, let’s imagine a country where other laws are ignored.

Counting Illegal Votes—Imagine a close Presidential election. The losing side says something like “True, the ballot is not filled out properly and according to the rules shouldn’t count but let’s consider the intentions of the voter and ignore the law. I know these rules were followed the last fifty years but this year is different”.

Gay Marriage--- Imagine a city like San Francisco where the law is very clear on who can get married. However, the Mayor doesn’t like the law and wants same sex couples to feel good so he says it’s ok to break the law and has the City perform marriages.

An employee for the CIA leaks the location of our prison camps in Poland that house Al-Queda prisoners. “Yes, I know it’s wrong but my conscious was bothering me and I disagree with the war”.

My conscious, my feelings, my intentions; all poor excuses to ignore the law. We have procedures in this country to change local, state and national laws if the majority desires. Let’s stick with that system. Hopefully, none of those nightmarish situations will ever happen so let’s return to Illegal Immigration.

Most all illegal activity is done because of Money and/or Power.

Money

The employers who hires the illegal workers are nothing but thieves. They steal from the legal American worker by paying lower wages due to the increase in the labor pool. They then rationalize their actions with nonsense comments like Americans won’t do these jobs and it keeps the price of fruit low.

Power

While it is true that no politician speaks more nonsense on a daily basis regarding this issue than Harry Reid, I’m awarding the “Pandering Award” to the carpetbagger senator from New York for her “Good Samaritan” comment. “It is certainly not in keeping with my understanding of the Scriptures, because this bill would literally criminalize the Good Samaritan and probably even Jesus himself.”

Clinton’s lack of scriptural knowledge is only surpassed by her obvious pandering to the Hispanic community which is highly religious. A few facts for the Senator.

- The Good Samaritan was not breaking any laws of the land.
- The Good Samaritan did not pander for the injured man’s vote, encourage him to break any laws or become a burden on the legal citizens.
- Jesus never broke any laws and encouraged others to obey the law.

In conclusion, my anger is not with the Mexican people crossing the border escaping a corrupt and impoverished country. I would be doing the same. That however is a feeling, not an ok to commit a crime. My complaint is with our elected leaders and the illegal employers who are allowing the flow of people and thus violating our laws. In short, follow our constitution by securing our border and enforce the law. That will remove all the confusion.

What Was He Thinking?

There have been at least three “what was he thinking” moments in the Bush presidency. I realize some Democrats would put the number in the hundreds and some Republicans would say zero but these are the ones that struck me. All involve an inability to see the “Big Picture”

PORTGATE

Let’s start with what it’s not about. It is not about the specifics of security, Islamaphobia, union jobs, who’s managing what and all the other babel that fills the Sunday talk shows.

Big picture common sense dictates that because the United States is in a long-term war against Islamic Fanatics it makes no sense to have any Arab country involved in our ports. Bush should have foreseen the chaos coming and certainly should be able to envision the problems if something bad happened at a port under Arab management. It doesn’t matter whether he knew this deal was approved or not. He is the president. Just say that after further review it’s not in the best interests of our country. A knee jerk defense of the criticism and the use of the V word is not good leadership. No one realistically expects any president to get all decisions right. We do except them to seriously take criticism that comes from both sides of the aisle and the American people.

Regarding some of Bush’s selling points

A. UAE is a good ally. Nonsense. Has the UAE done the following?

- Issued a Fatwa calling for the death of Osama Bin Laden and the other usual suspects
- Issued a Fatwa denouncing suicide bombers as violating the teachings of Islam and unworthy for entrance into heaven and the plundering of virgins.
- Sent members of their own military to Iraq to fight along our soldiers

I didn’t think so.

B. Canceling the port contract would be discrimination against Arabs (Islamaphobia) Let’s nip this discrimination nonsense in the bud.

If you’re an Arab that is a citizen of the United States and I discriminate against you only because you’re an Arab that’s Islamphobia. That’s considerably different than refusing to grant contracts to Arab countries filled with a populace that still roots for Osama and has provable ties to 9/11. Just because the UAE is not the 7th century tribal country that Iran is does not make them our Great Britain.

And if the above is not enough to convince someone that Port Gate is a bad idea I have two words for you. Jimmy Carter. He thinks it’s a good idea and he has never been right regarding anything that has to with the security of the United States.

Harriet Miers

This move was the biggest disappointment because Bush had total control over the outcome. What was he thinking? The president’s job is to nominate a constitutional scholar that will become a steward of our country’s constitution. Someone who’s knowledge of the words and writer’s intent is in a class of few. Nominating one of your employees who is clearly unqualified is an insult to the American people and the Founding Fathers. This is not a criticism of Meirs, it is a deserved criticism of Bush. Fortunately, he got a “do over” as he probably will on Port Gate.

Capturing Saddam Alive

What was he thinking?

If Bush didn’t give the order for him not to be taken alive, why didn’t he? If he did and some soldier initially screwed up, there was time to fix it. To capture him alive and then keep him around for this circus trial that Saddham controls is insane. Who’s the victor and who’s the defeated. Bush needs to read some Biblical history.

How much of this insurgency could have been avoided if Saddam was pulled out of his foxhole dead. Stop treating this man like a local bank robber. Imagine the reverse if Iraq invaded the U.S. and captured our president. Our enemy only understands and respects one thing.

In conclusion, what was he thinking?

ASK NOT

“ Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country” Words made famous by John F. Kennedy during his inaugural in 1961 and later carved in stone at his grave site. Two years later another great American put forth the idea that “content of character” was the proper way to judge someone. Let’s journey back to the Constitution and the phrase “Pursuit of Happiness”. All the above was written by courageous great men who passionately believed in their meaning and the principles of self reliance and personal responsibility. Why do I bring this up? Because there is a cancer sweeping across the United States eroding the American Character. It is so prevalent that many individuals and institutions don’t even know they have it. Say hello to the “Entitlement Mentality” or EM for the remainder of this discussion.

EM (I deserve, I’m owed, it’s my right) is everywhere. It has affected young and old, rich and poor, black and white, both political parties, blue and white collar, Christian, atheist, etc. EM is truly an American affliction although those born elsewhere and then naturalized rarely have it. The only ones that aren’t affected are those Americans that truly believe they are entitled only to the “pursuit of happiness”, that they shouldn’t be asking what the Government can do for them and they should be “judged by the content of their character”.

EM was almost non existent prior to the late 60’s. So what happened?
The obvious reasons are 1. Many Baby Boomers were spoiled by their parents who wanted to make sure their offspring had it better than the generation affected by a depression and world war. That EM was then passed on to the present generation in their twenty’s and thirty’s. 2. Americans have become “fat and happy”. We have way too much and no clue or desire to understand what the rest of the world has. 3. We are bombarded twenty four hours a day with advertisements proclaiming we deserve, we’re owed and if we don’t have it, there is something wrong with us.

To demonstrate how deeply EM is entrenched in our culture, let’s look at some recent history.

Stock Market decline and loss of jobs after 9/11

Financial Security (I deserve it, if I don’t get it, it’s someone’s fault)
Oh no! My NASDAQ account (with all my stocks that don’t pay a dividend and never had earnings.) has crashed - it’s the President’s fault. A few truths about financial and job security. You’re not entitled. The President is not responsible for you getting, keeping or losing your job. You are. U.S. Presidents haven’t had any meaningful influence on the the economy since Roosevelt. The economy runs in cycles, always has, always will. Bush deserves neither blame for the economy of 2001-03, or credit for 04 and 05. This pandering by both political parties to their base only encourages the entitlement mentality. And you’re not entitled to a pension. If you work somewhere and your company’s pension investments haven’t worked out, too bad. It’s not something other taxpayers should subsidize. That’s welfare.

Healthcare.

You’re not entitled. Maybe we should have some type of national health care but good health care starts with the individual. Why should those that take personal responsibility for their health pay higher premiums because of the fast food, alcohol guzzling, tobacco using individuals that are everywhere? This country has so much entitlement on the brain, it’s considered ok to smoke for twenty years and then sue the tobacco companies for bad health. Alcoholism classified as a disease? Polio is a disease; abuse of alcohol is bad character.

New Orleans and Katrina.

Nothing has given more validity to EM and its first cousin IAV (I’m a victim) than the actual events and media coverage of New Orleans. Some hard truths:

•If you could have left before Katrina hit and didn’t you’re not a victim, you’re part of the problem
•If you’ve been engaged in a destructive life style that led to poverty, you’re not a victim
•The City of New Orleans and State of Louisiana had forty years to build proper levees. They didn’t. They are not victims and are not entitled to the American taxpayer playing Santa Claus.

What’s the best way to eradicate EM and IAV in New Orleans? Nothing takes the place of strong leadership. I believe that the majority of those in poverty will make a successful effort to replace destructive personal behavior with self reliance and personal responsibility if they have a roadmap.
Why won’t Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and other Black leaders go to New Orleans and condemn the personal behavior that keeps the cycle of crippling poverty churning?

•Explain to the women of New Orleans that the government or a man is not the answer to a better life and that having children without a husband is probably going to keep you and your children in poverty forever.

•Condemn the men impregnating women and then leaving them. Label them as the chief architect of our nation’s ghettos

•Label BET and MTV videos as soft porn that portray a very destructive life style.

•Promote the virtues of self reliance and the absence of bad decisions in daily life.

The first step in improving one’s life is to stop any current destructive behavior. It certainly is not to reinforce the belief of EM and IAV. The media frenzy regarding the labeling of those affected by Katrina as victims has no end.

Financial security, Healthcare and New Orleans are just three examples of how the entitlement mentality has become a way of thinking for many Americans. I am not saying that national healthcare or that government aided financial security is a bad thing. Nor that one shouldn’t be helped even if they really aren’t a victim. This is the United States and we help countries all over the world. We should certainly help rescue our own no matter how they got there.

What I’m saying is that an Entitlement Mentality along with the victim card is a very destructive way for individuals and institutions to think. It robs them of creativity and the fruits of self reliance and personal responsibility.

Deja Vu

In 1954 Sen. Joe McCarthy imploded on live television during his witch hunt for communists. His specialty was exaggerated and reckless accusations against a person’s character. Fast forward to 2006 and the implosion of Ted Kennedy while he attempts to impugn the character of Sam Alito at the Senate Judiciary Hearings.

In no way am I comparing Ted Kennedy to the father of “McCarthyism”. After all, McCarthy grew up on a farm and attended a one room schoolhouse. He later earned a law degree working part time and was elected a circuit court judge at age 30. He enlisted in the Marines in 1942 and participated in bombing missions as an intelligence officer. In 1946, he was elected to the Senate without the aid of his father’s money or brother’s accomplishments.

Instead of listing the plethora of Kennedy’s past accusations and lack of character, the following should suffice.

Ted Kennedy lecturing Sam Alito is comparable to the following:

1. Hugh Hefner lecturing Billy Graham on morality
2. Ernest T Bass (Andy Griffith show) lecturing Grace Kelly on manners
3. Jethro (Beverly Hillbillies) lecturing Thomas Edison on thinking
4. Barney Fife lecturing Colombo on detective work

It’s important to put the nominee hearings in perspective. Clinton’s two choices, Ginsberg and Breyer were confirmed 96-3 and 87-9. Republicans understand it’s the President’s right to select nominees of their choice and that a circus atmosphere is not required. Unfortunately the opposite is not true. Ever since Bork in 1987, if a Supreme Court nominee believes the Constitution is not a living document subject to the current trendy winds, that nominee will become subject to character assassination by the Democratic Leadership.

Fortunately, that’s the good news. Because nothing and I mean nothing clarifies the difference between the pontificating Kennedy and a man of professional and personal character like Sam Alito than the Senator's own words. Thank you Senator Kennedy.

A House Divided

Great words by Lincoln 147 years ago, but never more true than today. In the last few months the following has taken place:

U.S. Senators have compared our troops to Nazis and accused them of terrorizing Iraqi women and children.

The Chairman of the Democratic Party proclaimed the U.S. is losing the war.

ABC reported the countries that were helping us house Al-qaeda prisoners.

Ex-presidents Clinton and Carter (The Great Appeasers of our time) have consistently criticized our involvement in the war. Clinton had an especially nice touch telling Arab students in Dubai that Iraq was a mistake. It’s a shame he couldn’t have traveled a few hundred miles further and said the same to our American soldiers. However, he wouldn’t have received the same appearance fee and rousing applause.

Let us be blunt. They are all helping the enemy. Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Dick Durbin, Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, Howard Dean and the other usual suspects would be less of a threat to the United States if they were transported to Iraq, given rifles and told to shoot at American Soldiers.

This whining about how we got there, bad intelligence, etc is now irrelevant. We are there, boots are on the ground, the team is on the field. How about joining our team and stop saying things that encourage the enemy. Winston Churchill would be aghast at the behavior of our politicians. Must the late 30’s be repeated? How long will it take these defeatists to recognize the severity of the enemy and the need for unity? Perhaps Bush’s "You're either with us or against us" sounded arrogant, but truer words were never spoken.
